Blender – A free & Open Source 3D modeling and Animation suite.

Filed Under (Education) by admin on 27-08-2010

It is a Free and Open Source 3D modeling and animation suite. It is computer graphics program that allows you to product high quality still images and animations using three-dimensional geometry.

One of the things that makes Blender different and special compared to other comparable 3D software is the fact that it is free and open source. This means that not only can you download Blender from www.blender.org without paying single pasia. Plus you can also download the code that makes up the program called source code.  For most  programs, the source code is a heavily guarded and highly protected secret that only certain people  can see and modify. because of Blender openess, it code is being improved by the Blender Community which have members around the globe.

Because of these strength, Blender is an ideal program for small animation companies, freelance 3d artists, independent filmmakers, students beginning to learn about 3d computer graphics and dedicated computer graphics hobbyists.

What it have :

  • INTERFACE : Revolutionary non-overlapping and non-blocking UI delivers unsurpassed workflow. Flexible and fully configurable window layout with as many screen setups as you prefer. Anti-aliased fonts with international translation support. Any window space can be easily switched to any window type (curve editor, NLA, 3D view etc). Custom themes.
  • MODELING : A range of 3D object types including polygon meshes, NURBS surfaces, bezier and B-spline curves, metaballs, vector fonts (TrueType, PostScript, OpenType).  Full multiresolution sculpting capabilities with 2D bitmap/3D procedural brushes (Paint, Smooth, Pinch, Inflate, Grab) supporting symmetry.  Modifier stack deformers such as Lattice, Curve, Armature or Displace.  Python scripting access for custom tools.   Smooth soft selection editing tools for organic modeling.
  • RIGGING : Fast skeleton creation mode. Interactive 3D paint for vertex weighting.  Fast envelope based skinning.  Automatic Skinning that really works (heat equilibrium based).  Mirror editing (bone creation and weight painting).  Double Quaternions reduce shrinking and other bone deformation errors.
  • RENDERING : Very fast inbuilt raytracer. Oversampling, motion blur, post-production effects, fields, non-square pixels. Tile-based and fully threaded.  Render baking to UV maps and object to object baking (full render, ambient occlusion, normals, textures).  Render engine tightly integrated with the node compositor.  Halo, lens flares and fog effects.
  • ANIMATION :  Armature (skeleton) deformation with forward/inverse kinematics with pole target support.  Auto IK allows posing FK chains easily.  Non-linear animation editor for mixing individual actions created in Action editor.  Python scripting access for custom and procedural animation effects.
  • UV UNWRAPPING : Conformal and Angle Based unwrapping methods.  Interactive transform of UV maps by vertex pinning.  Proportional falloff editing of UV maps for smooth transformations.  Seam based unwrapping.
  • and many more…

Some Gimps :

  • Elephants Dream (2005) :  Project Orange, the first Open Movie, started in September 2005 and premiered end of March 2006. The ambitions and targets for Orange were set very high, the character animation system had to be fully recoded, the rendering system needed a lot of upgrades, and most of all: a node-based Compositor was required.
  • Big Buck Bunny (2007) :  Project Peach, the second Open Movie, started in October 2007 and premiered April 2008. Target this time was to create good hair/fur editing and rendering, more advanced support for cartoonish characters, and solve complexity in rendering outdoors environments with grass, trees and leaves.
  • Yo Frankie! (2008) :  Project Apricot, the Open Game, started February 2008 and published the game in September 2008. This time the target was to improve Blender as a tool in the game creation pipeline, using a level editor to the external engine Crystal Space. During the project also game creation and prototyping in Blender itself was added as a target.

Password securityOne of the most challening work in this vertual worl it create and remember password. Password are present every in the world of internet. Whether u have an email account or a bank account.

Now count yourself how many account do u have and how many different password do have for this accounts. I m sure it will be more than two and this password get mixed some time, right !

So, what do we do. We create very easy password that u can remember and this password r like sweet cake for the hacker to guess.

So here is one of the best way to create safe and easily remembered password. First let learn the about safe password. A safe password must be complex mixture of numbers, alphebet and symbols. Now make a sentence which is easy to remember and it must contain date or number and symbols.

Some ways are :

  • Tha take first or last letter of each word  as ur password.  For example, ” In 1947 India got it Independence.”,  Password : “I1974Igii.”  or  ”Why did people fought the great war II?”,  Password :”wdpftgwII?”
  • You can also use some date that you can remember like 10/Dec/1956, Ten-12-1956, 10.Dec.1956, etc.

It easy to member and safe to use.

WordPress Compressed

WordPress Compressed

We all know that WordPress is one of the most popular CMS for blogging. It’s user friendly UI and  safety make  it accepted in mass.

I just want to increase download speed of my blog. So, I used some Plugin of to do so. It did but not to my satisfaction. Moreover, I did not have GZIP facilite in my server, so I need to take other way.  I log into my server thruough FTP software and  opened index.php file of my blog and add following PHp code at top of the page.

==========CODE ============

ob_start(‘ob_gzhandler’);
==========================
It compressed content sent from the server to the client.

Wait, it is not done yet. What about CSS files?

We need to compress them too. Here are the steps that you need to do:

  • Open all the CSS files and put following codes in top and buttom of the file.
  • Save the file with add “.php” extension. For example, earlier style1.css later style1.css.php.
  • Add “.php” extenstion to the template page of Template that you are using.
  • ========== CODE - TOP ============

    <?php if(extension_loaded(‘zlib’)){ob_start(‘ob_gzhandler’);} header(“Content-type: text/css”); ?>
    ==========================

    ========== CODE - BUTTOM ============

    <?php if(extension_loaded(‘zlib’)){ob_end_flush();}?>
    ==========================

    Hope you will find it usefull and please do share your knowledge to make it better.

    Popular Image Formats

    Filed Under (Education) by admin on 04-08-2010

    There are several image formate available for storing all those great photos you take. This section examines them in brief.

    BMP -Bitmap

    BMP or bitmap is a raster format,which is used practically for a possible raster data stoage. It is device independent, that is,  it determines the pixel’s colour without reference to the display device and enables your to record images with varing quality levels upto 32 bits.

    The main advantages of this formate is its usability and wide software support.

    More infomations:

    JPEG  or JPG – Joint Photographic Experts Group

    This format was designed to transfer graphic data and images ovcer digital networks and was generally used to hold and transfer full colour photo realistic images.

    JPEG compresses photos, thought with quality loss. Photo and Multi Colour images, transferred in this formate, are ideal for networking..

    More infomations:

    GIF – Graphic Interchange Format

    The GIF file formate is used to hold and transfer images in the index colour mode. This formate also supports a lossless LZW compression algorithm- that means a single file may contain a set of images an. It also support an additional channel to perform a transparency of an animation.

    Files in this format  have a set of compression algorithm features that allow compression algorithm features that allow compressing imager with sequential horizontal colours. This means that a file which contains horizontal bars will take lesser space than the same file with vertical bars.

    Unlike JPEG, GIF uses a lossless compression algorithm. It also uses a patented compression / decompression algorithm, which is called LZW (Lempel Zev Welch). The interlaced mode enables it to refine images, while they are loaded. It very convenient for large files as you can see the main image features in several seconds after loading.

    PNG – Portable Network Graphics

    The PNG file format is a comparatively new progressive formate originally designed to replace the out dated GIF. The PNG formate has got a new set of features that GIF lacks.

    PNG also perform lossless compression with the help of a Deflate algorithm and supports the interlaced mode. The fact, that the format perform a lossless compression, makes it possible to hold photorealistic images. Images don’t lose their quality while compressing and decompressing. The PNG format is specially used for networking.

    More infomations:

    WMF – Windows Metafile Formate

    You can use WMF files to hold vector and halftone images in the working memory or in disk with post output display. Windows Meta-file format is a specific Windows format. It is supported by a lot of “non-Windows” applications for data exchange with Windows applications. Out of Microsoft Windows interface prevalence. WMF formate is considered to be a general format for graphic applications and is supported across all platforms.
